Visiting Toronto – City transit and transport system

Toronto offers a wide variety of attractions including a large population center, the lake and tourism destinations. Traveling around Toronto could not be easier! Toronto has the third largest mass transit agency in North America. Mexico City and New York City only have larger mass transit authorities.

 

 

Rail IconThere are three heavy rail rapid transit lines in Toronto proper.  There is also a light rail line that is most elevated.  Toronto Transit Commission, commonly known as TTC operates an extensive network of buses and street cars as well.

 

Bus IconBusing in Toronto includes over 150 routes! Each route also connects with at least one subway or rapid transit stop except for two routes.

 

Street Car Icon 11 streetcar routes focus on the city core and provide connections to subway stations as well.  Individuals who have never ridden on a streetcar will love the experience.  Toronto is one of the few cities to still have streetcars in service.  The 11 routes is amongst the most routes currently operated by a city in North America.

Commuter rail and bus services are also available.  These services are provided by GO transit which is run by the Government of Ontario.  Individuals are able to travel to many destinations in the region and able to do so without driving.  Traveling is extremely easy for anyone who wants to be able to hop a train or bus.  Toronto focuses its mass transit in the city on the most populated areas.  However, most of the city has at least some service from a bus route.
